Covering over 125 hectares with more than 15,000 trees, The Retiro Park is a green oasis in the heart of the Madrid. In it you will find great gardens, monuments, children’s areas, artificial lakes, hundreds of different species of plants, trees and flowers and some beautiful buildings used as exhibition halls by the Reina Sofia Museum.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site: On July 2021, The Retiro Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, The selection of this urban development project in Madrid, called the Landscape of Light, recognises the importance of the union of nature, culture and science in an urban setting.
This self guided bike tour covers the hightlights of the Retiro Park. The route is smooth, stunningly beautiful, and very easy to follow. It takes less than 2 hours and you will have time enough to stop, enjoy all the spots, do some photos, take breaks and explore the park at your own pace.
